Doves have been used in many cultures as symbols of love & peace. They sooth and calm a worried mind and offer a sense of calm & hope. Our Peace Doves have just arrived on time for Christmas! They are all unique and hold their own energies. We asked our artisans in India to create them for all of us as we feel, they are an important symbol around times where love and peace needs to shine so we can set the energy for a warm heartfelt year to come. 

Please note as the process of making our doves is intricate and complex, each one has its own unique finish and the photo might not represent the one you will receive. 

ABOUT THE MAKING OF THESE DOVES

 

The base metal is recycled iron with which the base form of the dove is made. After that, a mix of mud, copper and a few other minerals is handmixed and the doves are wrapped completely with this muddy metal mix. They are then put in a clay oven to bake. In the oven what happens is that the copper and minerals melt through the mud to give that lovely uneven rustic coating on the base iron. Once baked, the doves are pulled out of the oven and the baked mud is lightly cracked and cleaned away. 

Our Artisans are experts in this process and have the knowhow for the exact mud and mineral mix, the temperatures to bake it in, how long to keep it in the oven, how to crack and clean it once removed and so on.
